Let’s face it January is now & always will be one of the coldest & most dreary months! Thank god it’s over! Roll on February & warmer temperatures… I hope! I find my skin goes super dry & flakey at this time of year so I’ve listed out 5 products I’ve enjoyed using the last month since coming back to NYC. Some of these were Christmas presents & I was excited to put them to the test!
1. Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Body Creme:
You know when it’s wintertime & your legs haven’t seen the light of day & are so white they are practically purple? Ye that was my leg situation in January. Thankfully I got a lovely gift from Jo Malone London recently where I got to try out their Suede Body Cream. Jo Malone has a reputation for luxury and OH MY GOD….. it’s utterly divine. This cream is going to last you a long time because of it’s thick consistency, so you only need one scoop on each arm & leg. I rubbed this into my décolletage & arms after showering & the scent lasted ALL day and you are left with perfectly hydrated skin! With Valentines around the corner I think it’s either a #hinthint or #treatyoself to this very luxurious body cream. Shop here.
2. Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream:
I got this cream at Christmas when I was in my local health store and just started using it as vigorously as if I had been using it my whole life. (I’m usually very nervous about trying new products as I have sensitive skin). Turns out this product has been a cult classic & around for about 30 years. It has she butter, rose extract & avocado that helps prevent your skin from drying out. This cream is a rich treat for your skin that I use for both night & day. It’s great for using over these winter months as so many like myself suffer from dry or irritated skin. Shop here.
3. Tom Ford Illuminating Primer:
I never really used (or believed in) using primer before this product. But it really does work. With it’s pearly texture it creates a luminous & flawless complexion before you apply your foundation base. It’s not glittery or gunky but rather creates a iridescent glow to the skin. After a long day, outdoors, my make up would have previously ended up patchy. Very. Unpleasant. Thankfully those days are over as this primer is a current fave. Shop here.
4. Mac – Velvet Teddy:
I finally got my hands on this cult product as it was a stocking filler at Christmas! (Thanks Mom!!!) Love love love the colour! It’s a warm brown with a rosey tint and ultra creamy with a matte finish. It works for both day to night looks too. In my opinion you don’t even need lip liner with this …. so it’s a handbag essential! Shop here.
5. Paula’s Choice Resist Skin Restoring Moisturizer: I discovered this brand after being invited to one of their press days in NYC last year & was really pleasantly surprised. It’s a great quality brand & if you have sensitive or reactive skin like me this is definitely worth a try. Ive been using this moisturizer the last few weeks & it’s super handy as it has SPH 50 built in, so you don’t have to worry about smothering your skin with an extra product on top. It’s widely available in the US and coming to Ireland this year! Woohoo! Shop here.
