Aoife’s Book Club #2

By December 4, 2018 No Comments

I’m so excited to add the second installment to my book club! I’ve been busy gobbling up some of these brilliant reads on these long winter nights!

Crazy Rich Asians – Kevin Kwan

This was such a great book and a very different read from any book I’ve read before. When Nick brings Rachel home to meet the family it’s not quite what she expected…. and this book gives an amazing in-depth insight into the elitist society of Singapore and how the uber uber rich live. A quirky addition is how author Kevin Kwan includes comic & traditional Singaporean terms that are translated at the end of each page. However I did think it was a bit of a slow burner for me and the ending left me waiting for more. But now that I have read the book I can’t WAIT to see the movie!!! 7/10

The Wife Between Us – Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

Really enjoyed this read and loved how I made so many assumptions along the way of this story of marriage and betrayal to be faced with a huge plot twist! It was terrific! It’s based in New York around an angry ex wife stalking the new fiancé that is almost a carbon copy of herself. You don’t know who to trust the whole way along and the fun is in finding out!
9/10

The Perfect Couple – Elin Hilderbrand

One of my favorite reads hands down. This book kept my attention the whole way through and found myself sneaking into my room for early nights just so I could get through a few more pages. This juicy story about a seemingly “perfect couple” Celeste and Benji which follows their love story right around their wedding day when the maid of honor is found dead. It’s a classic who done it but with every new chapter are nuggets of golden twists. 10/10

Everything I Know About Love – Dolly Alderton

This is definitely a very different read to the ones I normally go for. It follows the life of Dolly Alderton and all the crazy, funny adventures she goes through in her 20’s, that I’m sure a lot of us can relate to!! It’s of a coming of age story around navigating love and getting older. At times I found it a little underwhelming but overall a fun read with tears shed at some of the heartbreaking points in the story.
6/10

Hope you find something you love!
