After taking a break from reading the last couple of months after my eye problem, I’m so happy to return to my favorite hobby and dig into some of my favorite reads I’ve been wanting to read for months! Hope you find something you love from my reviews!
Winter in Paradise – Elin Hilderbrand

This is actually one of my favorite books I’ve read to date. I just couldn’t put it down and has solidified this author as my firm favorite. This book, with a nod to the title is perfect if you are looking for a beach read and is part 1 of her #Paradise trilogy. The story is set in the sunny Virgin Islands specially St. John, with Irene Steele, a main character who has it all until her husband is found dead in mysterious circumstances in a Caribbean Island far far away. Irene and her sons fly to St. John and find out some very unexpected news! No spoilers to be seen here though because if you read any book this winter it has to be this one, and you will enjoy every page! It had everything from themes of heartache, love, loss and hope. Can’t wait to read the second one!

Something in the Water – Catherine Steadman

This thriller starts with a bang in the first few pages where the main character Erin is disposing of her husbands body and turns to google to find out the proper depth it should be buried!! Curiosity has definitely got the cat straight away! The clocks are then flipped back three months where the two newlyweds are honeymooning in the dreamy Bora Bora only to find something floating in the water while out snorkeling in the turquoise waters. It’s a locked black bag, but could be in it? I found this story a little far fetched and could have benefited from some editing. I was slow to return to it on more than one occasion but thought it was a generally a good read with plenty of twists. Not my favorite.

Nine Perfect Strangers – Liane Moriarty

This is my second read by this author and it certainly did not disappoint. It was very much a grower for me where I liked in the beginning, then half way through I was done with it, but then there was a pull that kept me wanting to find out what happened to the nine. I LOVED it towards the end. It’s an edgy read that revolves many different characters with many different backgrounds who gather in a remote health resort. They have no idea what’s in store for them. Think spa day gone terribly wrong. A dark but comic read!
